China-Bangladesh friendship deepens from the youth

A team of 144 students from Bangladesh visited Yunnan University on Sept 11 as part of the 2017 China-Bangladesh Youth Camp, held from Sept 11-25. 

Organized by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), Embassy of China in the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Yunnan University, the students will take Chinese lessons, experience Chinese culture and sightsee around Yunnan province.

"Having lived in China for seven years when I was little, I have deep feelings for the country," said Zobaida Tasneem dewan, one of students. She also expressed her hope to enter a Chinese college when she is older. "Kunming has fresh air and good living conditions," she said. 

In addition to learning Chinese calligraphy, handicrafts, Chinese chess and kung fu, the students will also visit an ethnic village, Shilin Geopark and primary and middle schools in the province. 

Last year was the 40th anniversary of the establishment of friendship between China and Bangladesh, both of whom have decided to make 2017 a friendly exchange year between the two countries. The Chinese central government will annually invite around 150 Bangladesh youths to China for the new three years. 

The 2017 camp will take place in Kunming and Dali in Yunnan province. An exhibition will also be held at the Yunnan University library, displaying traditional Chinese arts and painting and photographic works from Bangladesh.
