Thailand's exports climbed 17.4 percent year-on-year in October amid continuous recovery of global demand, official data showed on Monday.

The exports value totaled 22.74 billion U.S. dollars last month, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce.

The ministry attributed the strong export growth to rising shipment of agricultural and agro-industrial products, such as cassava, rubber products, rice and automotive. A weakening Thai baht also helped increase the competitiveness of Thailand's goods in the global market.

For the first 10 months of the year, the kingdom's exports rose 15.7 percent year-on-year, amounting to 222.74 billion U.S. dollars.

Meanwhile, the Southeast Asian country's imports climbed 34.6 percent from a year earlier last month, leading to a trade deficit of 370.2 million U.S. dollars, the ministry data showed.
