The Central Bank of Myanmar announced the issuance of new 500-kyat bank notes with the image of late national hero General Aung San, the Information Ministry said in a statement late Thursday.

The circulation of the newly designed 500-kyat notes will be launched on Friday.

A portrait of late General Aung San is printed in the center of the face of the note while an image of Central Bank of Myanmar building is printed on the back of it.

The new notes will come in a reddish brown color.

At present, bank notes with denomination of 50 kyat, 100 kyat, 200 kyat, 500 kyat, 1,000 kyat, 5,000 kyat and 10,000 kyat are circulating in Myanmar.
