Singapore stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.12 percent, or 3.26 points, to close at 2,821.7.

A total of 1.69 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.32 billion Singapore dollars (about 987.88 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 216 to 196.

The STI index went down 0.64 percent, or 18.11 points, to close at 2,824.96 on Thursday.
