Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.12 percent, or 3.66 points, to close at 3,131.74.

A total of 1.99 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 2.2 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.64 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 303 to 185.

The STI index went down 0.21 percent, or 6.46 points, to close at 3,128.08 on Monday.
