Singapore's manufacturing output increases 10.7 pct on year in Q1

Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) announced on Monday that the country's manufacturing output increased 10.7 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2021.


Excluding biomedical manufacturing, the output grew 13.9 percent year on year in the three months.


As for the performance of different clusters, the electronics cluster's output grew 28.1 percent year on year in the first quarter, while the biomedical manufacturing cluster saw its output decline 0.9 percent, the chemicals cluster's output grew 7 percent, the precision engineering cluster's output grew 12.2 percent, the transport engineering cluster's output decreased 20.8 percent, and the general manufacturing cluster's output decreased 1.9 percent.


In March, Singapore's manufacturing output increased 7.6 percent year on year, compared to the revised 16.5 percent increase in February. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, the output grew 14.9 percent year on year in March.
